Our People
The world’s changing climate — and the risks, challenges, and opportunities it presents — is one of the defining issues facing society today. Across the research community, there is an urgent need to better understand the causes and impacts of climate change, while developing meaningful, evidence-based solutions that can support a more sustainable and resilient future.
At the heart of this work are our people. Bringing together researchers, professional staff, students, and external collaborators from a wide range of disciplines, the Global Research Centre is built on a shared commitment to advancing impactful, interdisciplinary climate research. Our collaborative approach enables us to connect expertise across fields, strengthen partnerships, and respond to the complex environmental, social, economic, and political dimensions of climate change.
The Centre is supported by a clear and collaborative leadership structure designed to encourage interdisciplinary engagement and strategic oversight. A Steering Group guides the overall direction and management of the Centre, ensuring balanced representation across key themes and disciplines while supporting the development of activities, partnerships, and research initiatives. Alongside this, Topic Leads provide leadership within specific thematic areas, championing collaboration, identifying emerging research priorities, and helping to shape the questions and challenges addressed through the Centre’s work.
This work is further strengthened by an Advisory Board that provides independent guidance and strategic insight, helping to ensure that all activities align with the Centre’s core principles, long-term vision, and commitment to meaningful real-world impact. Together, this structure creates a strong foundation for ambitious, inclusive, and globally relevant climate research.
We are committed to creating a dynamic and inclusive research community that supports innovation, knowledge exchange, and real-world impact. By working closely with businesses, governments, funding organisations, policy makers, and other research institutions, we aim to translate research into practical action and informed decision-making at local, national, and global scales.
We welcome inquiries from potential research partners, funding organisations, policy makers, and students interested in joining or collaborating with our research community. For specific collaboration proposals, please contact the relevant research lead through our Topics page or reach out via our general enquiries email.
